India and Sweden Launch SITAC to Accelerate Bilateral AI Collaboration

SITAC

India and Sweden have reinforced their strategic technology collaboration with the launch of Sweden–India Technology and Artificial Intelligence Corridor (SITAC), marking a significant step in bilateral cooperation in Artificial Intelligence and digital innovation.

The IndiaAI Mission and Business Sweden signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) to formalize SITAC, aimed at strengthening AI-driven trade, investment, and industrial collaboration between the two nations.

Announced on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the agreement establishes the structured framework to advance cooperation in the development, application, and deployment of artificial intelligence solutions.

Through the framework, both countries intend to drive real-world industrial and societal outcomes while promoting responsible and scalable digital innovation.

The Statement of Intent builds upon the long-standing partnership between India and Sweden and aligns their shared priorities in leveraging AI for innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development.

SITAC will also address emerging risks associated with AI adoption, ensuring that technological progress remains ethical and inclusive.

SITAC to Serve as Flagship Bilateral AI Platform

Under the framework, a dedicated programme titled the Sweden–India Technology and Artificial Intelligence Corridor will be jointly developed by the IndiaAI Mission and Business Sweden.

SITAC is envisioned as a flagship platform designed to facilitate structured engagement among government agencies, industry stakeholders, startups, investors, researchers, and academic institutions from both countries.

Speaking about the collaboration under SITAC, Kavita Bhatia, COO, IndiaAI Mission, said: “India and Sweden are not merely partners in Artificial Intelligence rather we are co-architects of a value-based, sustainable, and trusted AI future.

Our collaboration reflects complementary strengths and shared democratic values, positioning both nations to shape the next phase of global technological transformation.”

Echoing similar sentiments on the importance of SITAC, Sofia Högman, Trade & Invest Commissioner of Sweden to India, stated: “This Statement of Intent with IndiaAI represents a significant advancement, translating our shared strategic vision into concrete outcomes.

Through SITAC, we are looking to connect our ecosystems and bring together the best AI and digitech innovations from both countries to create new business opportunities”

Key Initiatives

The SITAC programme will include multiple structured initiatives to strengthen cross-border AI engagement. These include:

  • Organisation of conferences, seminars, and thematic workshops
  • Facilitation of exchanges between Indian and Swedish AI ecosystems
  • Field visits to innovation hubs and centres of excellence
  • Engagements among companies, investors, researchers, and policymakers
  • Identification of opportunities for joint innovation platforms and investment corridors
